Pink Greyhound

Pink Greyhound

If you follow my recipes and ramblings on Hungry Couple then you already know that I have a basket full of fresh Florida grapefruit adding some sunshine to my dreary winter kitchen. I made jars of this Greek Yogurt and Grapefruit Panna Cotta, which I'm still enjoying, but had some fruit left. Sounds like cocktail time to me!

Pink Greyhound
A Greyhound is a classic vodka and grapefruit juice cocktail. Simple and delicious. Add a salted rim and you have a Salty Dog.

For me, the grapefruit needs a bit of added sweetness so I prefer a sugared rim. A sweet greyhound, perhaps? But since I was working with lovely pink grapefruit, we have a pink greyhound. Refreshing, goes down easy and who can resist a pink drink? Cheers!

Per Serving:
1 1/2 oz. Vodka
4 oz. Pink grapefruit
Sugar for rimming

Place a couple of tablespoons of sugar in a shallow bowl. Run a cut grapefruit around the rim of a cocktail glass and roll it around in the sugar. Refrigerate for a few minutes to set.

Add the vodka and grapefruit juice to a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake well. Pour into the prepared glass.

  1. I love grapefruit juice and yet have never cared for a salty dog since I don't like all that salt. This is the perfect solution. Cheers!!

  2. What a delicious cocktail! The decoration is just great! I see that the basket with grapefruits does not vanish in vain. The concoction of vodka and grapefruit juice is the best of which you can mix a cocktail. The bitterness of alcohol is underpinned by the freshness of citrus.
