Icy Cold Blood Orange Cosmo
Once again I found myself planning cocktails in the produce aisle. There's always a dazzling array of fruit these days but something usually jumps out. This week, some blood oranges rolled into my basket and demanded to come home with me. So ripe they practically juiced themselves and filled my kitchen with a lovely fragrance.
I knew I had a container of blood orange sorbet in my freezer and it added the right touch of sweetness to balance the lime and vodka. After running errands for hours in the heat today, I wanted mine icy cold and filled it up with ice. A cool drink with the aroma of mint and orange is just perfect for a late summer afternoon. Cheers!
Per Serving:
1 1/2 oz. Vodka
2 oz. Blood orange juice
1/2 oz. Triple sec
1/2 oz. Lime juice
2 oz. Blood orange sorbet
A few sprigs of fresh mint
Add the vodka, triple sec, lime juice, sorbet and mint to a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake well. Pour into a chilled cocktail glass, top with more ice, a sprig of mint and slice of blood orange.
