Black Forest Martini
Even though Valentine's Day is over, I still seem to have chocolate and cherries on my mind. OK, I pretty much always have chocolate on my mind so that's nothing new. But somehow the combination of the two makes me think of Valentine's candy.
It's also the flavor of German black forest cake which I didn't care for when I was younger but now love. And so it was time to turn it into a cocktail.
I've seen this made with cherry liqueur but I didn't have any in the house. In any event, it seemed unnecessary since I did have a jar of lovely cherry preserves. This is definitely a sweet, dessert drink and it goes down very, very easily. Cheers!
Per Serving:
2 oz. Vanilla vodka
1/2 oz. Chocolate liqueur
1/2 oz. Creme de cacao
2 Teaspoons cherry preserves
Whipped cream for garnish
Shaved chocolate for garnish
Combine the vodka, chocolate liqueur, creme de cacao and cherry preserves in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake well to break up the preserves. Pour into a chilled cocktail glass and top with whipped cream, shaved chocolate and a maraschino cherry.
That's just crazy - in a good way!
